Sunday the 11th saw Dermot Radford, the Bresnan boys Richie and Daniel, Mr. and Mrs. Byrnes and Keith Coyle heading out on a 50km spin. The weather was good (to start with), with a crisp , cool bite in the air. Thermals and winter gloves kept them warm.
Dermot was on his trusted Peugoet 531, Reynolds tubing (history class, as his Cube was still tucked up in bed). Having already done an hour he included us in his training and took in an extra two hours, plus a round trip to Bansha ansd back into Tipperary town. Richie on his Giant Defy 4 was showing great form. His training for next yeasr's race season paying off, even if Dermot had words with him on Sunday about his training stats. Dan on his Boardman Pro with carbon forks, currently studing in WIT was as usual giving the sprint into town a good push with Dermot. We had England vs Italy with Martina Byrnes on her Planet X Nanolight Hi Modelus and Tommy on his Willier Triestina Mortirolo (how's your Italian??). Thats some mouthfull of bikes. Tommy's "boss" even let him start work late on Sunday. He's a very nice guy. And then we had Keith on a road bike! What's going on here? Where is the "pimped out" MTB?? Well he was on a Giant SCR4, which is a re-cycled bike. KC was out on the bike for the first time and was keeping the pace well until coming into town he lost the power in his legs. He needs to get out more and drink more water.
All enjoyed the spin. They got some rain, not to heavy, so it was a wet end to the day but well worth it. Roll on next Sunday.
If you feel you can push yourself, this is a good training spinfor you. The last few km into town is a good sprint. The speed goes up to 40km/h (plus).
