1: The swim is on the west coast meaning you will experience very choppy sea conditions making sighting challenging and you will get bashed around a little bit. Also this year the swim was 1.9k which is the distance of a half iron swim.
2: The bike is 44k rather than the standard 40k, the roads are hilly, windy and rough.
3: To add insult to injury the run is also a sufferfest. The first 5k is more or less up the side of a cliff and into the wind.
Other than that tough it is enjoyable :-), Tommy Byrnes led the club home with a time of 2:35:06 with a tremendous bike split of 1:13:56. Brian Devitt was second home for the club 25 seconds behind Tommy with a time of 2:35:31. Keith kelly was the third lunatic to complete this sufferfest with a time of 2:49:00. All three lads had a great day out and will be going again next year.
