Tippwheelers club AGM date has changed, it will be held in the Canon Hayes on Thursday the 7th of Nove at 7:30pm. The agenda will include 2013 in review, future events, new club jersey, commitee election and progress of the winter training sessions.
During Turbo Tuesday this week we will conduct a Lactate Threshold Test. This is a 30 minute test that is used to determine training zones. It is a very intense 30 minutes so those that do not wish to do the test will also be accommodated for on the night.
In order to prepare for the test we will need those wishing to participate to have a heart rate monitor. If you do not have a heart rate monitor then you will not be able to do the test. Ideally you need a monitor that will record the data so it can be downloaded and analysed afterwards, however if all you have is the monitor then data will be recorded manually on the night. We will use your results to work out your individual lactate threshold heart rate and training zones. It is also important to be reasonably fresh for the test so take a couple of easy days in training!

cater for all abilities and are open to everyone including non-club members as part of our effort to get more people involved in sports, health, fitness and our growing club

an all abilities turbo training session on Tuesday evenings
an all abilities track running session on Wednesday evenings
an all abilities swim session on Friday nights
an all abilities bike ride on Saturday Morns
a leisure spin on Sunday Morns

The sessions are proving really popular averaging 30 odd people at various sessions. So why not give one a go and join us. We love to see new people joining.
Leisure spins have moved to Sunday mornings at 10 am departing from the sports complex. These spins are open to everybody no matter what your ability. It is hoped to see old familiar faces out on the roads and would encourage new cyclists to come and join our very sociable spins. All you need to take part is a bike and a helmet. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Introducing Turbo Tuesdays
Starting on Tuesday the 8th of Oct at 7:15 in the squash court of the sports complex is a new venture for the winter, the club is setting up “Turbo Tuesday” to help satisfy that craving for pain on cold, dark winter Tuesday evenings. Everybody with a turbo trainer and bike are welcome to join us and this
time helmets are not compulsory.
Bring your bike and turbo trainer along to the Canon Hayes Sports Complex at 7:15pm on Tuesday evening. The training session will be structured but of course you will be on your own turbo trainer so you can follow the session or do your own thing. It will be led by one of our experienced members and will be for approximately one hour. It will cater for all abilities. We encourage and welcome any members to attend.
Following this people will have an option of staying on to take part in a core strength session mixed with functional flexibilty poses that will last no more than 30 minutes.
Following the session you will have a choice of tea, coffee or a recovery drink. Who knows, maybe somebody might even do a little baking and share with the group.
There will be a charge of 3 Euros per night to cover costs.
Also, if there is enough interest before we start Turbo Tuesday, Dermot Radford has offered to work with anybody that are interested in setting up heart rate training zones. Dermot will take people through the lactate threshold test, record the test data,
carry out the analysis and calculate your training zones. He will only be able to carry out the test on two people at the same time and the test will last for approximately 45 minutes per person, including warm up and cool down, therefore it is important to let us know who is interested in getting tested so it can be scheduled to suit everybody.
