The fastest time of the night was set by Dermot Radford (Tipp Wheelers) at 21.29. Next was Tommy Byrnes (Tipp Wheelers) at 23.22 followed by a very impressive time of 23.43 by Richie Bresnan (Tipp Wheelers). Another rider that impressed was the young Henry Ballinger McFarrlane from the South Tipp Cycling Club who clocked a time of 24.50 and appears to be one to keep on eye on for the future.
As we know, the fastest riders in our league do not always win the points. The rider with the best time improvement of 4.23 was Rob Walsh of Galtee Wheelers, who claimed the maximum of 20 points. Rob had some mechanical issues on the first stage, which cost him dearly in points but he made up for it on Stage 3. Tipp Wheelers' Richie Bresnan seemed very focused on the night and improved his time by 1.37, giving him second place and third place went to Noel Considine of the Galtee Wheelers, making it a very successful night for the Mitchelstown based club.
The overall league table is starting to take shape. Kevin Bergin (Tipp Wheelers) continued to score heavily and extends his lead on the top of the table. Noel Considine is firmly placed in second with Brian Canny (Tipp Wheelers) occupying third place.
Next Wednesday sign on will be from 6.45 to 7.10 in the Sports Complex in Tipperary Town. Riders will then roll out to the start at the top of the town where they will race to the Cashel roundabout and back. As usual we urge participants to ride carefully and to take special care when travelling through Golden in both directions. Fortunately (or unfortunately) many riders improved their TT times resulting in them being upgraded. All riders with a time under 25 minutes have been moved to Cat 1, times between 28 and 25 minutes are Cat 2 and times above 25 minutes are Cat 3. The rolling route is sure to break up the groups, which should play into the hand of the Cat 1s. The handicaps for the night are as follows:
Cat 3: 00.00
Cat 2: 04.08
Cat 1: 08.47
We hope to see everybody there for a good night of racing. Email the club on email@example.com or send us a message through our Facebook if you have any questions.
