The Tipperary Wheelers had a tremendous start to 2015 with a hugely successful registration night held in Cannon Hayes Recreation Centre on Thursday the 8th. Over 70 people attended the night to sign up to the club, with many familiar face and a few new ones too, cementing the clubs future going forward. If you couldn’t make it not to worry just come to any of our organised training sessions or email us on firstname.lastname@example.org. A special thanks to the complex too for accommodating us.
Our training programme has remained set in the same format as before the Xmas break with the addition of one new cycle. In particular our “Turbo Tuesdays” in Kelly & Co from 7:30-9:00pm are proving a massive success along with our new Saturday “Club 100” cycle at 9:00am sharp from the market yard. This is a swift paced spin averaging 25-27kph building to a 100km goal aimed at individuals looking to build towards triathlons and longer sportive cycles. The leisure cyclists are also out in force every Sunday morning at 10:00am from Kelly & Co. covering 30-40km at a handy pace. Track running will be back this week, after being called off due to severe weather on the 14th.
Well done to our very own Denise White Compton who came back with 3rd woman overall at first race in the Butcher's Block duathlon series in Punchestown racecourse, Kildare, on Sunday the 18th of January. Great start to the 2015 season! Denises finishing photo is linked below.
Hi all, the very first Tipperary Wheelers newsletter is out now. We'd like to thank all the members that contributed and all our members who went out and represented the club in so many events this year that we could of written a small book! This ones for ye! So here it is a small snap shot of 2014, roll on 2015 :D
Winter training in preparation for the 2015 Tri and Bike season is well underway. The new committee has decided with a eye on quality to run 4 club training sessions per week. These training sessions are developed to help members accomplish there goals, whether its a 40k leisure cycle, the Ring of Kerry, or an Iron Man Triathlon. Training groups are designed to suit everyone form beginner to advanced across all disciplines.
For our members there are also several member run training group which operate through our TW closed group on Facebook, these are generally smaller groups of individuals with defined targets for each workout i.e pace/distance. Don't be afraid though, they range from beginners to advance and are just as friendly as official club run training. If you can't find anything that suits, just post your own plan and you'll be sure to get a few heads along with you for company.
For club training our very successful Turbo Tuesday from 2013/14 has returned. Training will take place in our new venue at Kelly & Co on the Bansha Road. Our Meet & Train run session is also continuing through the winter on Wednesday nights in the complex. There is also coached swimming lessons on Friday nights and our regular Sunday road spin. Sunday's bike session is a more controlled and the group will mostly stay together. This is aimed more at sportive riders taking part in the numerous tours throughout the year. There might even be a coffee stop on this one.
We welcome both members and non-members to participate in any of our organised club sessions.
